Henri Moissan
What is Moissanite?
Moissanite is a gemstone born from the stars. It was first discovered in 1893 by a French scientist named Henri Moissan, who later won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He initially thought that he had discovered diamonds, but later determined that the crystals were composed of silicon carbide. Natural moissanite is incredibly rare, so moissanite available today is laboratory-created.
After many years of trial and error, the particles Moissan discovered were successfully synthesized to produce what is now one of the world’s most scintillating gemstones.

If you are considering a moissanite gemstone as an engagement ring option, at about $300 a carat, a moissanite ring will save you thousands from an earth-mined diamond.
Moissanite Features
1.Moissanite can be used as a raw material for engagement ring, a pair of stud earrings and a necklace.
2.Moissanite is durable, tough and extremely resistant to scratching and abrasion. With a hardness of 9.25, moissanite is harder than all other gemstones except diamond.
3.Moissanite does undergo a temporary color change when exposed to extreme temperature from a jeweler's torch during jewelry repair, but with proper bench techniques there will be no lasting damage, and the stone will return to its normal color once it cools.
